The road to Super Bowl 51 begins today and it will kickoff around 4:25 in the home of Super Bowl LI, Houston, TX. The first game of the 2017 NFL Wild Card weekend will feature the (9-7) AFC South Champion Houston Texans hosting the (12-4) Oakland Raiders.
Both these teams, the Texans and Raiders come into today’s game with numerous injury issues so this matchup in my opinion will come down to what defense what to advance more. The Houston Texans feature one of the NFL’s best defenses but their offense has been a problem all year. Top free agent pickup Brock Osweiler hasn’t performance at the quarterback position the way many Texans brass had expected but he has a chance today to change the past. Look for Osweiler to pass for over 250 yards and 3 touchdown passes. The Texans offense will rush for over 125 yards on the day as well. Houston’s defense will play good but not as good as they have this season.
The Oakland Raiders come into the game without their MVP candidate quarterback Derek Carr who broke his leg a few weeks ago. The Raiders will turn to rookie quarterback Conner Cook who makes his first start of his career against this strong Texans defense. Although this is Cook’s first start, with the weapons around him, for some reason I believe the kid will go out and play the game of his life. Look for the Connor Cook to pass for over 280 yards and 3 touchdown passes. The Raiders wide receivers (Cooper & Crabtree) will have a strong game today and show out in Houston. The Raiders defense will play strong all game long. Look for Raiders Pro Bowl defender Khalil Mack to have 3 sacks today and force a turnover. Earlier in the preseason I predicted the Texans could possibly represent the AFC in Super Bowl 51. Today, I have a feeling the visiting team will shock the World. Stay tuned to HHS1987.
