Coming into the game with a record of (1-1), the Hawks had plans on moving on to a record of (2-1) but the Brooklyn Nets and former Hawks star DeMarre Carroll had other plans. The Nets defeated the Atlanta Hawks (116-104) on Sunday afternoon sending the Hawks to a record of (1-2).
For the Hawks, Marco Bellinelli was the team’s leading scorer with 19 points. Dennis Schroder finished the night with 17 points but Dennis suffered a scary ankle injury toward the end of the game that will have him miss Monday night’s matchup in Miami. Kent Bazemore has continued to improve his offensive play early in the season. Bazemore finished with 16 points, 3 assist and 3 rebounds.
For the Brooklyn Nets, they held on to a lead late in the fourth quarter and they never looked back. Sharpshooter Allen Crabbe was Brooklyn’s leading scorer with 20 points on (7-12) shooting from the field. DeMarre Carroll played well against his former team scoring 17 points with 3 rebounds and 2 assist. Newly acquired point guard D’Angelo Russell nearly had a triple-double finishing the game with 16 points, 10 assist and 7 rebounds.
The Atlanta Hawks are back in action for their second game of a back to back on Monday October 23 against Dion Waiters and the Miami Heat. Stay tuned to HHS1987 for more NBA news. Follow @eldorado2452 on Twitter and Instagram for all your Atlanta Hawks, NBA and sports news.
