On Friday March 3rd, the defending NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers came to town here in Atlanta for a primetime Eastern Conference matchup on ESPN. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks have met the last two seasons in the NBA playoffs with the Cavs sending the Hawks home both times. It’s safe to say it is alway a big game when these two teams meet.
The Hawks defeated the Cavaliers earlier in the year in Cleveland (110-106) back in November so the Cavs were looking to even their season series with the Hawks one game a piece. Prior to Friday’s big game we spoke with a few Atlanta Hawk stars to get some insight on how they felt heading into the game.
Facing a familiar foe, Kent Bazemore, Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard and Coach Bud all have the same goal, Beat Cleveland! All four men acknowledged the task that was at hand in wanting to defeat the defending champs and they also acknowledged the emotions that could surface pre game as they prepared to face former Atlanta Hawks sharp shooter Kyle Korver. Korver was traded to the Cavs earlier this season and this is his first time playing against his former team. Kent Bazemore, Paul Millsap and Coach Bud all have very close off the court relationships with Kyle Korver so they highlighted how good it was to see him but once the ball is tipped he is their opponent and they want to beat him. Both Coach Bud and Paul Millsap laughed and noted, it always fun to play against family and want to beat your brother.
