Jay Upscale, in collaboration with Only Champions Events threw the ultimate BBQ this past Wednesday for the 4th of July! The Big Bad BBQ at Brooklyn’s hidden oasis, The Brooklyn Mirage, was the place to be – especially if you’re a Dancehall and Soca fanatic (like myself). Vibes were on high during the all-day festival filled with Caribbean dishes, Dancehall moves, Soca beats, and party-goers dressed in their best Summer attire, waving their respective island’s flag in di air.
The Brooklyn Mirage is truly one of the city’s hidden gems as you’re taken to what feels like an island getaway as the NYC skyline fills the backdrop.
DJ’s Kevin Crown and Young Chow had the old school Dancehall, mixed with the new riddims, the Soca beats, Hip Hop, and R&B pumpin’ through the speakers as the overly packed crowd partied all day until the headlining acts hit the stage. Performing hits like “Pon Di Cocky” and “Tip Pon Yuh Toe,” Aidonia had the outdoor venue up in flames. He even called on a few ladies to come join him on stage to buss a whine and bubble for him, as the crowd cheered on. Closing out the evening, Bunji Garlin, was able to keep the crowd energized as the night came to a close with hits of his own.
