Lupe Fiasco has let the flood gates open with his new album, “Drogas Wave” – which dropped a week ahead of his previously announced release date. This release is Lupe’s seventh studio album and boasts a lineup of guest features – including Damian Marley, long-time collaborative Nikki Jean, Crystal Torres, Troi irons, SimonSayz, Elena, and Bishop Edgar Jackson. “Drogas Wave” is a follow up to the Chicago rapper’s 2017 release “Drogas Light.”
According to Lupe, “Drogas Wave” is based on a story about a group of slaves that jumped off a slave ship that had taken them from Africa.
“The slaves did not drown, and instead somehow managed to live under the sea. They spent the rest of their underwater existence sinking slave ships,” explains Lupe.
