Tonight’s game featured two of the worst teams in the NBA record-wise but the play and energy on the court was electric from start to finish. If your only concerned with wins and losses, the Hawks performance tonight may have been disappointing, however I see the bright spots in the Hawks growing pain.
For the Hawks tonight, rookie Tyler Dorsey continued to take advantage of his minutes. In 25 minutes of action, Dorsey finished the night with 11 points on (5-9) shooting along with 5 rebounds and 3 assist. As usual Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder controlled the pace. Schroder finished the night with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assist. Taurean Prince added 16 points tonight and point guard Malcolm Delaney finished the night with 11 points on (4-6) shooting from the field.
For the Orlando Magic, their leading scorer in tonight’s matchup was Evan Fournier. Fournier hit a few big shots in the fourth quarter for the Magic as the Hawks were looking to take a lead. Fournier finished the night with 22 points. In action as a starter tonight, point guard DJ Augustin was effective finished the night with 18 points and 9 assist. Sharpshooter Marreese Speights added 14 going (4-10) from the three point line. Jonathan Simmons added 13 points in 34 minutes of action.
The Hawks have a quick turnaround and they welcome a familiar foe. On Friday night, LeBron James and the new look Cleveland Cavaliers come to town in the Hawks second game of a back to back.
