2019 has been the year for Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, A.K.A, DaBaby, as he kool-aid man the wall that separated him from the mainstream, with 2 albums being dropped and gaining millions of followers and listeners all over the world.

It all started with his Hit Single “Suge”, that earned him Double-Platinum Certification and to spend around 11 weeks on the top of the Hot 100 Single Charts on Urban and Rhythmic Radio. It all started when he dropped, Baby on Baby, back in March, this was the rapper’s first music compilation to be released and got him the traction (1.4 billion streams in the US alone) to what would come next.

The Baby on Baby success topped the expectations, as it debuted on the No. 25 of the Billboard 200, and on Apple Music’s No. 4. The notoriety from his debut mixtape, transferred easily when 6 months later he dropped Kirk

Another 13 songs that completely took over the charts, holding the top 13 spots on Apple Music’s chart when it was released back in September as noted by MusicBusinessWorldWide. DaBaby’s collaborations in this album were incredible, featuring Chance The Rapper, Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane, Migos, among other artists. The album debuted on the No.1 of Billboards 200.

Before that DaBaby started to be featured in other projects, as he participated in “Panini” by Lil Nas X, Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts”, Post Malone’s “Enemies”, among many others.

After this incredible year for Dababy, it’s just a matter of time to see if he’s able to stay on the top, but he seems to be trending just like the LA Clippers in the NBA experts predictions. The “power move” of signing with UMG seems to be his bet to keep growing in the foreseeable future.
