G-dot & Born – Boomsday (EP Stream/Video)

“The game has changed a lot but we like staying rooted, staying true to the essence.”—Born on his new EP with G-dot, Boomsday

It’s an international Boom bap celebration on Boomsday, the brand-new five track EP from Boston rap duo G-dot & Born, which is produced entirely by Greek beatsmith, Tom The 1st. For 15 straight minutes, the duo shares love to all the artists and sounds that have influenced them over the years while putting their own coat of paint on it. The tracks featured are as nostalgic as they are refreshing, and they make for another dope release from G-dot & Born.

It was just this past December 2018 that the duo left a major impression with the Drippin Soul EP, which found the two teaming up with Swiss producers Souslicers. And with Boomsday, G-dot & Born continue to deliver on their mission statement of providing real, authentic hip-hop to the world.

You can hear that immediately on the banging opening track, “Hip-Hop In Da House,” which boasts top tier lyricism from the duo, paired with neck-snapping production from Tom The 1st. It all sets the tone for the entire EP, which brings hit after hit of pure Boom bap from one song to the next. That goes for the aptly titled “Boom”—which is actually G-dot & Born’s favorite cut on the release—as well as the closing track “They Know,” a jazzy ode to the artform itself.

“Boom” also received the video treatment from the team at CEO Productions. The visuals center on the two emcees enjoying the “fast life” they rap about on the record, so it’s only fitting that we get to see them cruise through Boston in style. They also stop by their favorite Chinatown haunts to grab some grub before calling it a night.

The video and the entire project both embody not only everything that they love about the culture, but also serves as a reminder that they can each dabble in other sounds, yet reunite at any given time without missing a step. “We’re always evolving as artists, but that’s not to say we can’t get back in the lab and continue to dish out bangers for our core fan base.”

Boomsday is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms through the duos own label, Audible cons.
