The Philadelphia 76ers were in town tonight (Jan.30th) to the face the Atlanta Hawks in what was a very entertaining matchup. The game featured three of the 2020 NBA All-Stars in all-star starters Trae Young and Joel Embiid and all-star reserve Ben Simmons.

 

Both teams came out the gates firing as Hawks big man John Collins got the night started with a slam dunk to put the Hawks on the board. All-Star guards Trae Young and Ben Simmons put on a show in the first quarter. Trae young accounted for 94% of Atlanta’s first quarter points. Trae scored 14 points and dished out ten dimes in the first quarter
Sixers guard Ben Simmons wasn’t bad himself in the first quarter. Simmons scored 8 of the Sixers first 12 points and finished the first quarter with 15 points. Sixers big man Mike Scott added 7 first quarter points. The Hawks shot 64% in the first quarters.

 

Vince Carter got the 2Q underway with a fadeawy jumper giving the Hawks a ten point lead (41-31). Vince Carter make NBA history in tonight’s game. Carter checked into his 1,523rd game of his career passing Dirk Nowitzki for third on the NBA’s all-time games played list.

 

Vince then went on to drop 12 points in the first half. Following up on his big first quarter, Trae Young finished the first half with 29 points and 11 assist. Sixers guard Shake Milton has a big first half scoring 16 points. Ben Simmons had 18 first half points and the Hawks took a (74-67) lead into the half.

 

The Hawks controlled the game in the second half as well. Trae Young and John Collins kept their pedals to metal and helped lead the Hawks to a (127-117) win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

 

For the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young was once again the star of the night. Trae finished the night with 39 points, 6 rebounds and 18 assist. John Collins finished the night with 17 points and 20 rebounds. Vince Carter added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter both added 12 points.

 

For the Sixers, all-star Ben Simmons finished the night with 31 points and 5 assist. Joel Embiid finished the night with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

 

The Hawks are off to hit the road as they face the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday February 1st before coming back home on Monday February 3rd to host the Boston Celtics. Once again, the Atlanta Hawks picked up a (127-117) win tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers.
