unnamed-1-1-500x334 Chicago Songstress Tyahna Maray Speaks on New Song “5 Minutes” & Upcoming Tour

Chicago born songstress Tyahna Maray took some time out of her busy schedule to sit-down for a one on one interview with Hip Hop Enquirer to discuss working on her highly anticipated Ep and the current song “5 Minutes” that she’s currently promoting across the east coast region. Her bubbling smile and high energy made this interview one for the books.

The 5 Minutes singer said the song was inspired by a past relationship.

“For this particular song, it was more of a situationship where you’re in that talking stage,” Maray said. “You know ‘I shouldn’t even be talking to you’, but you still do it. I feel like we can all relate to it. You’re saying you’re on the way, you’re saying ‘I’ll be there in five minutes’, and you’re really talking fifteen to twenty minutes. Everybody’s time should be respected.”

Maray said when it comes to her upcoming music video, she hopes to showcase youth. She said that the youth is the future, and that she would like to use her ministry to get her message out.

The young artist has also branched outside of music and has even started her own mentorship group.

“Zero Gravity is a mentor group that I started pretty much saying “nothing can hold you down,” Maray said. “I started it with eighth grade girls because the transition from eighth grade to high school is different, and it took me going through it to learn. I feel like for those girls that don’t have anyone, that I can be that person to be there and help them the best way that I know how.”

Maray said the most important thing she hopes to accomplish as a result of her career would be making an impact on the world.

“To me it’s about what I leave,” Maray said. “What impact will I make? How will I make people feel? There’s the saying where they say you could do all these things, it doesn’t matter, but one thing people won’t forget is how you made them feel. So the feeling that I bring with my music, I think that’s the most important to me.”

Maray also has other songs on the album such as Patience, Something Different and “F Your Feelings” which all share her experiences with friends, family members and significant others which she feels other young adults will be able to relate to.
