Killer Mike & Vince Carter Talk about the Importance of HBCU’s & Understanding Financial Literacy (Video)

On Tuesday, February 25th, in celebration of Black History Month, local students from the Atlanta University Center (AUC) got a chance to hear from NBA legend Vince Carter during an intimate conversation about his lengthy 22-year career, life lessons and success. The event was moderated by rapper and activist Killer Mike. Both men dropped gems that will surely stick with the students for years to come. Those who weren’t able to attend were able to live stream the event at hawks.com/Vince.

 

Through 22 seasons in the NBA, playing with the Hawks, Toronto, New Jersey, Orlando, Phoenix, Dallas, Memphis and Sacramento, Carter is currently ranked 19th in all-time scoring (25,688 points), sixth in all-time regular-season three’s (2,280) and third on the all-time games played list (1,532).

 

Following the event, Terrell Thomas had a moment to catch up with both Killer Mike and Vince Carter. The two stars of the evening spoke with Terrell Thomas on the importance of HBCU’s here in America and why it is essential for entertainers and athletes to have financial literacy.

 

The Atlanta Hawks will honor Carter’s legacy on ‘Vince Carter H15tory Night’ as the Hawks take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, April 15 for what will be his final regular-season game in the NBA. Earlier this season, Carter became the first player in NBA history to play in 22 seasons, and at the beginning of this year, he became the first player in league history to play in a game across four decades.

 

Killer Mike is the founder of Grind Time Official Records and half of the famed rap-duo, Run the Jewels. He is a pillar in his community and a well-known social activist. Killer Mike first partnered with the Hawks in 2018 when he opened a S.W.A.G.
