Blackkingkofi is a musician born in Canada but brought up in Trinidad and Tobago. He has a unique style when it comes to music. A good comparison for his sound is if Dancehall and Afro beats had a baby with Hip Hop. One of his most popular song “Tropics” has been hitting milestones even two years prior being released. The most recent milestone is surpassing 1 million plays on SoundCloud. “Tropics” is a hip hop song with so much island flavour that can not seem to get played out, it’s one of those songs that become a classic.
In August the song was discovered in Europe on SoundCloud and took off. Being reposted 100 of times and added to countless playlist. The song now sit at 1.1 million plays and is continuously growing. Blackkingkofi hints a remix to his hit single in the near future but he wants to keep the details a surprise. The artist believes that SoundCloud is still a great platform for independent artist to be discovered by new fans who are eager to discover new fresh music. After a two year hiatus Blackkingkofi is set to drop his 4 track EP entitled “Dual Citizenship.” The EP is expected to feature 4 artist from both Trinidad and Canada.
