Lion Babe released their latest album Rainbow Child this past weekend. It includes nine soulful cuts as well as contributions from Siimbiie Lakew, OSHUN, Trinidad James, and Ghostface Killah the last of whom contributes to the album opener “Rainbows”. They’ve released a video for “Rainbows,” a song tailored for the Wu-Tang legend’s symbolic bars about coming out of the shadows into the light:
With the help of ONErpm Studios, the self-directed video for “Rainbows” consists of the artists performing in a dim white room, while rainbow colors flash around them in various patterns. Additionally, there are other scenes with contrasting color backdrops, which work perfectly with the collaborative eloquence playing throughout.
LION BABE, comprised of music producer Lucas Goodman and singer Jillian Hervey, released the 2019 studio album Cosmic Wind, featuring 15 songs and assisted by Bilal, Leikeli47, and Raekwon (close friend of Ghostface Killah). In the past several months, fans have received loose singles and covers from the group, including “Hot in Herre,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “Umi Says,” and “Native New Yorker”. Nevertheless, Ghostface has largely remained off the radar since his 2019 collaboration with 7L, Esoteric, and Wu-cohort Inspectah Deck’s for the joint effort Czarface Meets Ghostface. A Ghostface Killahs album was also released that same year.
