Yesterday, June 9th, REFORM Alliance hosted its first Philadelphia Job Fair in partnership with Hire! Philly at the Wells Fargo Center.

Open to the public, the job fair paved key pathways to economic opportunity for formerly incarcerated people, single parents, and veterans.

Over 40 employers such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Fanatics, Amazon, 151 Foods, Snipes, Yellow Brick Transport, Bon Appetit Management Company, Ameribest Homecare, Philadelphia Fire Department, University of Pennsylvania extended hundreds of job opportunities to the community as recruiters interviewed candidates on-site.

Leading community organizations such as Philly Counts, Urban Affairs Coalition, The Urban League of Philadelphia, NAACP, Mayor’s Office of Engagement also provided housing assistance, voter registration, and other critical resources to attendees.

Former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Avant, councilmember Derek S. Green, Pennsylvania House Rep, Jordan Harris (186th district), and the office of councilmember Isaiah Thomas surprised guests with a special appearance while the first daughter of the United States, Ashley Biden was spotted assisting guests as she sat in on their practice interviews.

Several beneficiary organizations from REFORM Alliance’s Pennsylvania Grants Program such as Black Men Heal were also in attendance.

Local Philadelphia artist and Pulitzer Prize-winning podcaster, Suave Gonzalez live painted inside his booth with local gallery, Morton Contemporary while also livestreaming his podcast at the job fair.

The Philadelphia event is the second job fair hosted by REFORM Alliance following the Roc Nation and REFORM’s Madison Square Garden job fair which kicked off just last year in New York. Today’s event marks another milestone launch in the organization’s plans to expand the series of job and resource events across the country in the coming year.
