Music is an experience. It allows us to say and understand things that our language is most likely unequipped to deal with or convey. This has given music a monumental status among our species. It’s been there since we’ve been there. And it will continue to resonate with us as long as we continue to be. For talented rapper Doe Dotta, each bar of rhyme is like a brush stroke on a canvas. Let’s see how music has inspired this young artist’s sensibilities.
Doe Dotta came to Brooklyn, America as an immigrant orphan from the Middle East. Yet, the difficult beginning was not to undermine Doe’s love for life and a desire to make his voice heard. He says, “Music never let me feel lonely. Even when I was alone and afraid, my music instilled in me hope and courage. That is what I wish to bring to people because everybody is going through something they wish they could change. Music, like art, can help us do that. The language of art has the potential to transcend our senses and help us find answers in a world outside our own. That’s the goal of a master. And I firmly believe that to be true about music as well. For me, and other rappers and other musicians I look up to music is an art unto itself. It’s liberating for the soul.”
Doe, whose latest single Chillin’ Wit the Ghost has set the cash registers ringing, believes in the power of harmony that’s inherent in music and art. He says, “Music is freedom because it gives you the freedom to create. Yet, it retains its fundamental texture and feel. The fundamentals of music and art are the very fundamentals of life – hard to explain but sturdy as the foundations of our planet. Every single note is a gift of the universe and in putting them together in different forms and variations, one feels closer to oneself and the whole of creation.”
Doe’s love and reverence for music is indeed inspiring. Here’s wishing him good luck.
