LJaks-500x500 LJak’s Promising Sophomore Album

His sophomore album, Self-Esteem: Chapter Two, is on its way, and it is greatly anticipated.

Self-Esteem, while a good first album, and while its popularity continues to rise, didn’t sit well with many of LJak’s supporters. The lyrics were there, the sound was there, the flow was there, the intelligence was there, the mastery was evident, every song was inspirational, but some of the tracks felt a bit off, and he didn’t have any features. I know, nit-picky at best. Fans have high expectations. But with the release of “Called,” fans need not despair.

If “Called” is any reflection of Self-Esteem: Chapter Two, LJak’s next album will greatly surpass the brilliance of his first album. Earlier in the year, he released “The Joker,” a single plainly displaying his skills as a lyricist. “Called” is more of a smooth, laidback, cruise-type joint, not only showing LJak’s way with words, but how those words are spoken to inspire. These two singles are enough to show that he is out for revenge with his sophomore album.

We can get a glimpse into Self-Esteem: Chapter Two through his two most recently released singles. His first album may have reflected his fight for identity. His first album may have welcomed the listener into his thought process as an author and writer, and the challenges he faced; challenges which should have discouraged him, but ultimately encouraged him. But with this new album, judging from these two singles, and especially from “Called,” Ljak is out for blood, and may have even gotten a satisfying taste of it.

LJak’s style has matured, becoming even more crisp and unique. If looking into what one can expect from his second album, we can at least know that LJak has upped his game. If “Called” and “The Joker” are used to judge the expected outlook of Self-Esteem: Chapter Two, it is clear that fans will not be disappointed. Fans will in fact be surprised at how LJak has raised the bar against his own self, absolutely transcending the artist introduced to the world in his first album.
