The Philly First 48 challenge by Johnnie Mac and Swaggyono has bubbling around the city of Philadelphia’s hottest emcees. The pair conversed regularly about creating some sort of challenge just to show the variety of talent available across the city, and it did just that. The instrumental is sample after Jay-Z’s popular single, “Breathe Easy (Lyrical Excersice)” — which is initially Stanley Clarke’s “Got To Find My Own.”
With household city names joining the challenge, such as Kur, Tierra Whack, Leaf Ward, Young Chris, Jay Huff, and many others, the Philly First 48 Challenge definitely took off at the right speed and showed hip-hop lovers the original depth of Philadelphia’s lyrical talent. Also serving as a solid way to unite talent in the city, Johnnie Mac and Swaggyono have definitely secured a way to bring balance and harmony back into the cities climate.
