Lil Durk released his highly anticipated 7220 album last month, and Atlanta’s very own Gunna was featured on the stand-out track “What Happened to Virgil.” Virgil Abloh’s family and friends came together with Cole Bennett on April 12 to unveil the video for the song, which pays tribute to the late legendary fashion designer and entrepreneur. “What Happened to Virgil” is the story of Durk and Gunna as they reflect on the trauma that results from the loss of their loved ones, and they also show off a production design set that is inspired by the story:
In honor of this fashion icon, the video opens with a quotation from Virgil: “Life is so short, you don’t have time to waste subscribing to what people think you can do rather than knowing what you’re capable of.”
The 7220 consists of 17 songs, with contributions from Future, Morgan Wallen, Summer Walker, and Gunna. 7220 has already been projected to sell 120,000 to 130,000 equivalent albums units during its first week on the Billboard 200, according to Hits Daily Double.
Earlier this year, Lil Durk and Lil Baby released their joint album The Voice of the Heroes, an 18-track body of work featuring Young Thug, Meek Mill, Travis Scott, and Rod Wave. With 150,000 units in the first week, that project climbed to the top of that chart, ending up garnering the duo a well-deserved Gold certification.
