unnamed-33-500x500 Kura Connects with Pi'erre Bourne for 'Born Seditionary' Album

Detroit artist Kura brings an edge to his rap music that he derives from his love of punk rock. Displaying his rebellious streak in full force, the 20-year-old SossHouse signee shares Born Seditionary, his new album, produced in full by Pi’erre Bourne. The follow-up to Kura’s 2022 EP PUNKBOYYYthe new tape is defined by Kura’s brash, auto-tuned vocals, accentuated by Pi’erre’s distorted and synth heavy concoctions.

Over the course of 14 tracks, Kura demonstrates the vocal ingenuity and fierce lyrical attitude that inspired Pi’erre to make him SossHouse’s youngest signee. Kura welcomes a guest appearance from his fellow SossHouse signee Chavo. A statement of purpose from the young rapper and producer, Kura’s Born Seditionary is available on all platforms via SossHouse.

Along with the album, Kura shares a video featuring two of the album’s highlights: “Saving Grace” & “Widebody Kit.” “Saving Grace” rides a fluttering keyboard melody with distorted percussion, as Kura floats above the fray with pop-punk-influenced melodies. “Widebody Kit” is darker, with rumbling 808s and a soft synth arpeggio backing up Kura’s hard-edged auto-tune. Directed by JJermW, the video finds Kura taking over an abandoned warehouse to the tune of “Widebody,” before the audio switches to “Saving Grace” with a neon flourish.

Even though he’s only 20, Kura feels like he can stay grounded as a newcomer in the industry. “Everything for me is about balance,” says Kura. “Knowing how to work hard and play hard. Since music is something I’m so passionate about and I’m young enough to still learn but also get tired, I give myself time to breathe. You gotta learn what you can handle especially at a young age like me because if I overwork myself or even stop working for a period everything spirals.”

Kura previously connected with his mentor Pi’erre Bourne for songs like the easygoing Waves,” and the guitar-drenched Hold It Up,” both of which find a home on Born Seditionary. Kura is also a talented producer in his own right, with credits on songs from fellow Detroiters like Babyface RayGT, and more.

Born Seditionary is the latest release in a flurry of drops from the exciting young artists signed to Pi’erre Bourne’s SossHouse label. Last week, South Carolina native J Billz took his turn, sharing his project Streetz Hottest Young’n. J Billz’s release followed in the wake of new projects by ChavoSharc, and Frazier Trill.

With Born Seditionary out now, Kura looks to make a name for himself with his elastic flows and swift melodies. Stay tuned for much more to come from the young artist as he keeps dreaming big.
