Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment at Long Island University (LIU), in collaboration with MetaMoon Music Festival announced plans to host a one-day conference focusing on Asian representation in live music and touring.

The conference titled, “The Evolution of Asian Artists and the Connection To Global Audiences” will be held on Feb. 8 at the LIU Brooklyn campus from 10:00am – 4:00pm EST – will explore the expanding influence of Asian music and highlight the live music and branding opportunities within the rapidly-evolving  genre.

It will feature a versatile list of speakers, including MetaMoon Music Festival Founder Grace Chen, Ticketmaster Global Business Development VP and Asian Nation co-founder Michael Chua, Equity Distribution artist Yoshi T, as well as executives from Sony Music Japan, New Balance, , IW Group, Electronic Arts, Pandora, iQiyi, Meta and more.

The conference will feature three panels revolving around the rise of Asian artists, brand partnerships that seize the economic power of the Asian diaspora in the U.S., and the ability of live music to bridge cultural divides. The discussions will also highlight how brands can best engage with emerging and established Asian artists and music fans both stateside and abroad in the Asian Pacific region.

“We are excited to partner with Roc Nation School to continue our mission of amplifying the talent of Asian/AAPI artists and the voice of the often underrepresented and underestimated fanbase,” said Grace Chen, founder of MetaMoon. “Cultural exchanges especially through the global language of music isn’t just an effective way to unite people, there’s also a strong business case to be made for recognizing and serving a growing demographic in the U.S.”

The conference comes at a time when the influence of the Asian artists and Asian music industry has never been stronger, with markets like Japan and China leading the 15.4% growth in the Asia region. Additionally, with over 23 million population, accounting for 7% of the U.S., the Asian demographic is becoming an important consumer base representing $1.2. trillion, and growing, of spending power.

“AAPI/Asian artists have evolved into a global force that is transforming the music landscape,” Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment Dean Tressa Cunningham said. “Through this conference, we aim to give the next generation of executives and brands a more comprehensive view of the industry and equip them with knowledge and understanding of the growing international markets and trends.”
