ICY V draws directly from the experiences of growing up in this West Texas city, where a love for music and authentic storytelling shaped his path as an emerging hip-hop artist.

“I’m from San Angelo, Texas,” ICY V said. “Growing up, I always loved music — not just listening to it, but understanding how artists expressed themselves through it. Being surrounded by different styles and personalities inspired me to eventually start creating music of my own. My environment taught me to be authentic and tell my story through my music.”

His early inspirations included J. Cole, CalenRaps and DEEP$IDE, along with the “rapping in the car” era that encouraged him to begin writing. While in school, he collaborated with peers who later formed the group now known as the Block Boyz, spending lunch periods making music in the library. That was the moment he realized music was more than a hobby.

“I was heavily influenced by the whole ‘rapping in the car’ era, which motivated me to start writing my own music,” he said. “That’s when I realized music was something I genuinely loved and wanted to be a part of.”

Consistency has been ICY V’s biggest challenge. After leaving his hometown, he became sidetracked by life and temporarily lost focus on his passion. He recommitted in 2025, beginning work on his debut album, “The Avalanche,” and restructuring his life around music rather than fitting it in around other obligations.

“I’d say my biggest obstacle has been consistency,” ICY V said. “Eventually, I realized that I could pursue my passion no matter where I was. … Since then, I’ve committed to building my life around music instead of trying to fit music around everything else.”

A pivotal moment came in 2025 when his music gained distribution across major platforms. Hearing his tracks playing in everyday settings — at work or in clubs — confirmed he could pursue the career seriously.

“After years of trying to get my music out there, I finally got my music distributed across all major platforms,” he said. “Hearing my songs playing while I was out … was a surreal feeling. That was the moment I realized I could really take this as far as I wanted to.”

ICY V’s sound has evolved from an initial focus on rap to broader experimentation. He aims to reach diverse audiences while remaining true to his roots and personal experiences.

“One thing about my music is that I don’t think I have just one sound,” he said. “I’ve experimented with a lot of different styles and have even more music on the way. … My goal is to create music that can reach different audiences while still staying true to who I am as an artist.”

Listeners, he hopes, will connect with the real emotions in his work.

“When people listen to my music, I want them to hear the hunger, passion, and determination behind it,” ICY V said. “Most of my music comes from personal experiences and real emotions, and I think that’s what helps people connect and relate to it.”

Looking back, his advice to his younger self is straightforward: Stay consistent and trust the process.

“Stay down, stay consistent, and don’t let anything pull you away from what you know you love to do,” he said. “Trust the process, keep working, and believe in yourself even when nobody else does.”

ICY V has described 2026 as a rebuilding year centered on creation, learning, networking and craft development. His debut album, “The Avalanche,” is scheduled for release in 2027, with additional music and increased fan engagement planned.

“I know I’ve been quiet for a while, but I’m coming back full throttle,” he said.
