Yesterday evening, rumors began circulating on the web that Kanye West would not only be dropping a new single, but with a legend. Last night, Yeezy liberated fans with the first serving off his forthcoming sixth studio album. Linking up with legendary Beatles member, Paul McCartney, the Chicago rapper brings us “Only One,” dedicated to his daughter, North West.
Kanye, a name that is actually Swahili for “Only One,” truly believes it was his mother singing through him and his daughter:
“My mom was singing to me, and through me to my daughter.” – he said in a press release.
Kim Kardashian-West spoke on the record as well saying she cries everything she hears the record.
“Everyone asks me what my favorite Kanye song is. It’s Only One. Kanye felt like his mom was singing thru him to our daughter. This song makes me cry every time I hear it. He releases it at midnight tonight on iTunes. “Only One” by Kanye West Featuring Paul McCartney. Photo by Inez and Vinoodh.”
Produced by Kanye West and Mike Dean, writing is credited by Paul McCartney and Kirby Lauryen alongside Kanye.
