It’s commonly being said that Lupe Fiasco’s 5th studio LP, Tetsuo & Youth, is the Lupe that we’ve been missing. His first two albums, Food & Liquor & The Cool set the standard for the Chi-Town lyricist, so it was a huge bummer when he kind of fell off after releasing his 3rd LP, Lasers. We can call that water under the bridge at this point because he’s back!
Tetsuo & Youth hit the streets January 20th, & so of course Lupe is now full swing into his promo run. We all know you can’t release an album without stopping by Sway In The Morning to give it the plug. Yesterday, he stopped by the show & we later found out this would be his very last radio interview (so he says). He kicked us 7-minutes worth of vintage Lupe off-the-dome bars which just might cause Azalea Banks to reconsider those shots she was throwing his way after listening to this joint right here.
Lupe also mentioned Kid Cudi’s name. He initially gave Cudi props then he broke down why the two had problems as of lately. So a while back in 2014, Kid Cudi said Lupe was attempting to swindle fans with $500 verses. Lupe heard that and has been looking for Cudi ever since to address the issue in person.
Lupe had more to say about Cudi. “I said, ‘Yo, gimme this bitch ass nigga Cudi’s number, if I see him, I’m knockin’ him the fuck out,” Lupe said. “I wanna get to the bottom of what the fuck you talkin’ about. Because it’s me. The same nigga you went in Complex and was like, ‘One of the only niggas who reached out to me genuinely and had love for me was Lupe.’”
If you have yet to do so, purchase his new album Tetsuo & Youth from iTunes here.
