Rumors have been swirling as of late about a possible marriage between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat forward Lebron James.
Earlier in the month Lakers guard Kobe Bryant made comments of possibly retiring after the 2014 season. Many sources strongly believe the Lakers could be in the running to pursue James who would have the salary-cap space to offer James a maximum deal if Kobe does follow through with his plans to retire when his contract is up.
Lebron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all signed contracts as free agents in 2010 that allows them to opt out of those deals after the 2013-14 season or remain with the Heat for two additional seasons.
When Lebron was asked about leaving South Beach for Hollywood he left the door open saying “I’m here, and this is what it’s all about.” Lebron also told reporters “That story, I don’t know where it came from, but I understand why it came up because of who I am ,it’s going to happen.I’m not going to worry about it. I’ve got to continue to stay focused with these guys and make sure we’re ready for any challenges that come.”
No one really knows what the future holds for the Lakers and Lebron but if Kobe does Retire in 2014 and Dwight Howard has resigned with the Lakers things could become very interesting.
