The back-and-forth between Rita Ora and Roc Nation continues.
If you recall, back in December, Rita Ora demanded to be released from Roc Nation and filed a lawsuit. Well, Roc Nation didn’t take the news too lightly. Jay Z’s label has now filed a counter-suit.
How did this all start? Well, in short, Rita Ora felt the label had abandoned her after only releasing one album in 2012. She was supposed to release five albums, according to her contract. A second album was in the works but the label did not release it – shifting their focus to their sports business. On the flipside, Roc Nation claims it spent close to $2.3 million on the second album.
Rita Ora’s lawyer has stated that the singer was promised to be released from her contract. If so, all of this would go away. In the meantime, this just seems to be one big headache for both parties.
