AMC announced earlier today that they will be producing a a new documentary series titled, “AMC Visionaries.” The concept of the series was based on Shea Serrano’s New York Times best-selling book, The Rap Yearbook. In the series, they will partner with and spotlight prolific artists as they share untold stories, and the fascinating history of pop culture genres – from the masters themselves!
One of the first installments of “AMC Visionaries: Rap Yearbook” will spotlight Ahmir “Questlove’ Thompson, and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter; both from iconic group, The Roots. Additionally, a spotlight on Shawn Gee of Philly Films, Alex Gibney – an Emmy Award winning filmmaker, and Stacey Offman of Jigsaw Productions, will also be featured. This six part series will premiere on AMC in 2018.
