19 year old Florida rapper, YNW Melly, is facing the death penalty in a double murder case.
On February 13th, Melly was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder – stemming from the October 2018 shooting of his friends, Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. Authority claim that Melly and Cortlen Henry (who was also arrested), shot Williams, and Thomas, Jr. and staged the crime to make it seem like their friends were killed in a drive-by.
The State of Florida is now seeking the death penalty against Melly – because the State believes it can prove “beyond reasonable doubt” that the young rapper did, indeed, kill his friends for financial gain. He will remain in Broward County jail until his trial date.
