King Magnetic takes us back to his stomping grounds of Allentown, PA to show us “How It All Started” in this nostalgic new video. The single is a collaborative effort produced by New York’s DJ E.REX, with a guest appearance from Mag’s longtime collaborator, GQ Nothin Pretty.
The video’s directed by the team at WE L!IVE T.V., who shot the visuals at William Allen High School, where GQ attended. It’s there where we get to see the lyrically-impressive emcees dive into thieir past and provide some background on events that shaped their lives.
What makes the already-dope “How It All Started” that much better is both DJ E.REX’s brassy production and GQ’s catchy vocals on the hook. It all blends seamlessly to give the song a strong throwback vibe, all without sounding dated or contrived. As for the track itself, “How It All Started” is part of Mag’s ongoing #weeklyvibes2020 series, and you can hear everything he’s released to date on his regularly updated playlists of the same name, available on Spotify and Pandora.
