Jack Daniel is a openly gay white rapper based in Phoenix, Arizona. With recent releases such as “Lollipop” and “Banana Split”, we were curious as to how other artists in the industry would receive this flamboyant rapper. Rapstress Jayda Pink seems to not have any objections to Jack’s demeanor as they have both partnered to release their new single “2 ways.”
In the history of HipHop I don’t know if I can recall a dynamic such as this. Aside from a few gay singers and Lil Nas X who came out after his fame, there haven’t been many (If any) rap artists to achieve a status of “celebrity” coming in to the industry as a openly gay artist.
As for the song, 2 ways is extremely catchy and has a very direct target demographic, in which I can definitely see this song played in clubs. Jack’s rap style is very much his own, nothing too in depth and definitely made for the dance scene. Jayda’s flow is very dynamic as she is more aggressive and direct, she does well at bringing the entire song together.
We can definitely say regardless of the industry’s taking to the artist, Jack and Jayda have definitely made history with this song. While Jack is still very fresh to the culture, we’re excited to see how he’s adopted as he progresses. 2 Ways is out currently on all streaming platforms and can be found at the link below.
