Hakeem Romance, discovered in 2012 and originally from Jersey, now resides in Virginia. He fondly remembers a childhood filled with love, often moving due to his parents’ military service. His father was a high-ranking Chief Warrant Officer, and his mother, a Master Sergeant. These travels enriched him with a diverse cultural perspective, which later influenced his art and future.
As a youth, he found a talent for basketball, and it seemed playing as a professional small forward was destined. His commitment to basketball camps hinted at this future. However, Keem’s journey didn’t end there; he further challenged himself in college, earning an associate degree in general studies from Brightpoint Community College. Eventually, he realized that neither college nor basketball was his true calling, and his passion for music emerged. His debut was at an all-white reunion party in which he opened up for Michel’le and Cupid. Hosted by “Brotha Man” from the 5th floor from the hit show “Martin”.
In 2022, he received the Best Male Emerging Artist of the Year award from the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA). Simultaneously, he served as an ISSA Administrator in Richmond, Virginia. Hakeem is recognized as a music industry professional, holding a certification in Music Industry Essentials from NYU/TISCH x Billboard – The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. He is also committed to helping independent artists succeed and navigate the music business through his record label, Sing On Everything LLC.
Subsequently, Hakeem discovered his passion for nurturing artists behind the scenes. Influenced by Missy, Luda, and Outkast, he aspired to be a rapper. His music draws comparisons to Tank and Usher. Often described as goofy, he’s generally laid back and quiet. Initially, few knew of his singing talent, but now the world is becoming aware. Once you listen to his music he cannot be denied.
