Pluto just set the summer off right. The West Side Atlanta native officially dropped her debut album Both Ways today (June 20), and it’s unapologetically Southern as her fans expected — if not more.
Clocking in at nine tracks, Both Ways is Pluto in full form: gritty but playful, tough but feminine, and all the way in her bag. The project brings heat from the rip with “Drill Flow” featuring BabyDrill, before getting into the standout track “Excuse Me” — a bass-heavy anthem that sounds like it was made to blast from car speakers all summer long. Pluto eats the beat alive, throwing shots and flexes with a delivery that doesn’t ask for your attention, it demands it.
The 22-year-old already had momentum going into this project. In May, she dropped one for the ladies “Pull Yo Skirt Up,” a no-games track about wasting time on the wrong men. But it was her viral hit “WHIM WHAMMIEE” that really launched her. The track hit No. 1 for most-added impact at Urban Radio, racked up over 24 million global streams, and exploded on TikTok with over 3.5 billion views. She doubled down with a remix featuring none other than Sexyy Red, who slides in with her signature sass, making the track even nastier in the best way.
Both Ways is also stacked with features from rising Southern voices like Emphamus, YKNEICE, and Noodah05, all of whom add different textures to Pluto’s already-colorful world. But make no mistake — this is her show.
Raised on Atlanta’s West Side and a graduate of Washington High School, Pluto’s story isn’t about overnight success. She started writing bars at 14, recording herself over YouTube beats, turning kitchen freestyles into full-fledged records. That self-starting spirit eventually led her to a major deal with Motown earlier this year, and the elevation has been nonstop since.
Outside the booth, Pluto’s also building her name as a digital personality. Her reels show a fun-loving, fashion-forward side of the rapper — whether she’s turning up with friends or hitting club stages across the South. Her online fanbase speaks for itself: 2.4 million monthly Spotify listeners, 283K Instagram followers, and 65.7K YouTube subscribers.
