Icey LLC Drops New Single “Moneyball”

New York duo Icey LLC is back with a new joint called “Moneyball,” and this one is for anybody who still likes their rap a little dirty.

Sone and IceyRellz slow things down on this one. “Moneyball” has that grimy underground feel to it.. The hard drums, a dark sample and plenty of room for both brothers to rap. Nothing too clean, nothing too polished. It sounds like New York.

That’s probably what we like most about the record. Icey LLC isn’t trying to keep up with everything happening in rap right now. “Moneyball” feels more like something you’d catch late night on an underground mixshow or hear somebody playing out the car while posted up outside. It’s got that old mixtape feel without sounding like they’re doing a ’90s tribute.

And the timing makes sense because we’ve heard rumors that Icey LLC has a new mixtape on the way.

There isn’t much information out about the tape yet, but “Moneyball” gives us a pretty good reason to want to hear it. Sone and IceyRellz always have had that chemistry, and a full tape gives them more room to just rap instead of trying to squeeze everything into one single.

Before the project gets here, they’re breaking the new record in North Carolina.

Icey LLC will be in Fayetteville on September 19 for a “Moneyball” listening party. The brothers will be in the building playing the new joint and giving people a chance to listen to the new music while also getting a chance to interact with Icey LLC and get complimentary champagne. New York will always be home, but underground rap travels. Fayetteville has always had its own relationship with hip-hop, and breaking the new single in the south puts Icey LLC in front of a crowd that might not have had them on the radar yet. The duo is currently signed to Rise Up Music Group, and it looks like the label is getting ready to put some real motion behind this next run. Between “Moneyball,” the Fayetteville listening party and the mixtape coming behind it, Icey LLC has a few things lined up heading into the fall.
