According to the Wall Street Journal, “The new device is intended to be sold alongside the current line of iPhones and would be about half the size of the iPhone 4. The phone, one of its codenames is N97, would be available to mobile carriers at about half the price of Apple’s main line of iPhones.”
The same report also says Apple is considering making its MobileMe online storage service free, which would allow users to store music and movies on a cloud server instead of directly on their device. The move makes sense if Apple is pushing smaller phones.
Still no confirmation on a release date for the iPhone 5 but it sounds like those in the market for a new cell phone have plenty of options.
