Police are still trying to determine what led to the fatal shooting of two teenagers in a hail of gunfire following an apparent joyride on a stolen all-terrain vehicle.
Investigators say the shots were fired from an AK-47 assault rifle and a handgun during the shooting that killed 17-year-old Dexter Bowie and 18-year-old Johnathan Stokley just before 8 p.m. Monday on North Ninth Street.
Both teens were pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital.
Twenty-seven shell casings were recovered from the scene. No arrests have been reported.
Authorities say one or both teens may have been riding an ATV that was found at the scene. The vehicle was struck by gunfire and had been reported stolen from northern Pennsylvania.
No arrests have been made. Police are still trying to determine a motive in the killings.
