The entertainment world’s eyes are planted in Austin, TX this week for the 2014 SXSW Film,Interactive and Music festival and it is with great sadness I report that 2 people have been killed and over 22 people have been injured after a Vehicular Manslaughter took place on Red River st.

Austin Police pulled over a Grey Sedan for suspected drunk driving and when the drive was stopped, he suddenly took off on Red River st. trying to dodge the police hitting innocent music lovers who were waiting outside a club named Mohawk. According to the Huffington Post:

When he reached 11th Street, the driver allegedly crashed into a moped carrying a man and woman. Both died at the scene, police said. The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Service also confirmed the two fatalities on Twitter.

The driver kept going, Acevedo said, and hit a taxi and a parked van before jumping out of his vehicle and running. The officer who initiated the original DUI stop and chased the driver to the accident site continued the pursuit on foot, and stopped the suspect with a stun gun, The Statesman reported.

At this time, the names of the victims have not been released.

The driver, who was not identified, is in custody and facing two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, The Star-Telegram reported.

Colin Kerrigan, a freelance photographer attending the festival, was stunned by the sudden turn of events.

“One moment I’m photographing a magical show the next, I’m photographing a horrible and sad scene,” he tweeted
