Yesterday was a extremely sad day for the world of Major League Baseball. San Diego Padres great Tony Gwynn passed away at the age of 54.

Tony Gwynn had a lifetime .338 batting average and was largely considered the best hitter major league baseball had seen since Hall of Famer Ted Williams. Gwynn played 20 seasons in the majors and he finished his career with 3,141 hits. For the past few years Gwynn had been fight a battle with cancer, a battle that came to an end yesterday.

During Monday’s MLB game, baseball fans and players past and present took a moment to celebrate the life of Tony Gwynn and all he meant to the game of baseball. Tony Gwynn’s memory will live on through his wife, Alicia, daughter, Anisha, and son, Tony Gwynn Jr. Rest in Peace Tony Gwynn.
