American Idol fans are becoming fewer by the numbers, as the once popular show is now one of the worst-performing shows on the Fox network. During its peak, Idol was drawing in 36 million viewers. That number has dwindled down to 11 million this past season.
The mere fact that no idols were really made since the days of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, it was only a matter of time that they pulled the plug. Has the era of on-air talent shows finally come to an end? While there have been many memorable moments on the show, it’s time for something new.
