Every year, Hot 97 manages to kick off the Summer the right way with their star-studded concert. And Sunday night’s Summer Jam was no different. The biggest names in Hip Hop showed up and showed out at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Although the weather didn’t permit the Festival Village stage to happen, the Stadium Stage definitely made up for it.
The show opened up with Maino and Uncle Murda, who brought out 2 Milly – which, of course, had everyone Milly Rocking at their seats. Hitting the stage next was G.O.O.D. Music, as Big Sean, Pusha T, and Travis $cott joined 2 Chainz and yes, Kanye West! Mr. West had MetLife Stadium going HAM and even more crazy when he brought out Desiigner. Following the G.O.O.D. Music set was Bryson Tiller and his special guest, Fabolous.
Shortly after a quick break, it was time to squad up as Terror Squad came out to perform some of their artists’ biggest hits. Fat Joe had MetLife Stadium leaning back in unison, and Remy Ma performed her hit single, “Whateva.” Fat Joe also performed “What’s Luv” with the help of his surprise guest, Ashanti. Terror Squad closed out their set with an energy-filled performance of “All the Way Up!” While many were expecting Jay Z to come out to perform his verse on the remix, it was still a phenomenal performance. And despite an incident that occurred in the crowd – which was diffused quickly – the show continued with A$AP Mob mobbing the stage with their female dancers. They definitely took it to a “New Level.”
Closing out the show was the one and only, DJ Khaled (& Friends). And by “& Friends” he meant EVERYONE. Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Movado, M.O.P., Ty Dolla $ign, Kent Jones and The Lox all joined Khaled to perform some of their biggest hits. And while the concert was filled with surprise guests, there were surprises backstage as well. Kim Kardashian, Usher, Justine Skye, Rashad Jennings, Colin Kaepernick and more were spotted.
