Yesterday, Wiz Khalifa walked into the Los Angeles Superior Court and filed a suit against his former label Rostrum Records. According to the paperwork, Khalifa claims his former label and manager Benjy Grinberg took advantage of him, coaxing the young, impressionable rapper into signing a “360 deal.”
According to Variety:
Before leaving in 2014, Wiz claims Grinberg shepherded him into deals that were more beneficial to the company’s interests. He also alleges that Grinberg and Rostrum made an unspecified amount from their deals with Atlantic Records and Warner Bros Records. Wiz is seeking damages of over $1 million. In a statement to billboard, Grinberg says:
Very disappointed and surprised by today’s news. To witness an artist turn on you after supporting them for a number of years is very disheartening. This is an egregious lawsuit filled with inaccuracies, yet unfortunately people sometimes resort to these practices as a way of conducting business.
