Week 2 of the 2017 NFL season kicks off tonight with the (0-1) Cincinnati Bengals hosting the (0-1) Houston Texans. Both teams are coming off of a rough week 1 where the two teams scored a total of 7 points combined. Tonight should be much different.
In the Texans Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, we saw the rookie debut of former Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson. In Watson’s first NFL action, the rookie finished completing (12-23) passes for 102 yards and 1 touchdown. Watson also had two rushing attempts for 16 yards. Watson was inserted in the game in the second half after a poor first half performance from quarterback Tom Savage. Tonight, J.J Watt and the Texans defense will look to make sure Houston gets their first win of the season.
The Cincinnati Bengals were a huge disappointment Week 1 and I’m honestly not sure how much of a improvement we will see from the Bengals on this short week. The Bengals are surrounded with talent but for some reason they haven’t been able to get over the big game or postseason hump yet. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is (1-5) all-time vs. the Texans are coming off of a poor performance Week 1 vs. the Ravens, he must play better for the Bengals to have a chance.
Dalton completed (16-31) passes last Sunday vs. the Ravens for just 170 yards with zero touchdown passes. 74 of those receiving yards came from Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green on five receptions. The Bengals two key rookies John Ross and Joe Mixon were inactive or didn’t receive much playing time Week 1, so we’ll see if the Bengals coaching staff changes that game plan.
Tonight I expect the Texans to come out and get a big win on the road. Look for Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson to toss for over 275 yards with 3 total touchdowns. The Texans defense will account for 5 sacks and 2 turnovers. The Bengals will be more productive tonight but the offense won’t do enough to pick up the win. Andy Dalton will toss two touchdown passes and two interceptions tonight. Both Bengals receiver A.J Green and Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins will have their first 100 yard games of the season. It should be a very entertaining game but I like the Texans tonight.
Texans 27 Bengals 17 (Fantasy Sleepers: Deshaun Watson (HOU) & A.J. Green (CIN))
