Boston Celtics star, Kyrie Irving, will continue to expand his movie career by not only starring in a horror film, but executive producing it as well. Inspired by his own experiences at the Skirvin Hotel – which is rumored to be haunted – Irving “connected with this idea immediately.”
Film producers, Brian Grazer and Bobby Cohen, approached Irving after hearing about the movie concept. They were also intrigued by his role in “Uncle Drew” which released this past June. Cohen, who’s a diehard basketball fan himself, told reporters that “Irving was great in Uncle Drew,” and found the Celtics Allstar “unbelievably appealing.”
“It was clear this was a story really exciting to him. A lot of athletes say they want to be in a movie, and even if its well-intentioned, it ends up being kind of a goof. I knew Kyrie was taking being an actor seriously,” shared Cohen.
