Hailing from Philadelphia and based in Brooklyn, Dot Cromwell is an artist with a talent for pulling beautiful songs from challenging places. “God Bless” is an optimistic anthem that couldn’t have come at a better time. Over trap drums and gospel organs, Dot paints a picture of a brighter tomorrow.
“Additionally & specifically for people of color, we’re seeing a shift in our neighborhoods from continued mass incarcerations to food desserts to deliberate gentrification. I want people to walk away from this knowing that we’ve faced hard times before & we will again” says Cromwell.
The compilation project is a result of SoundCloud’s partnership with Pharrell WIlliams & I am OTHER where they asked the global SoundCloud community to share original tracks inspired by the moment, using the hashtag #SCxiamOTHER. After receiving over 25,000 submissions Dot Cromwell is one of twelve that truly impressed Pharrell. All net proceeds received by SoundCloud from “SoundCloud Presents: i am OTHER, Volume 1” will go to Sweet Relief and Help Musicians UK, two charities working on the frontlines of providing direct relief to the artist community.
