This is NOT a voice rehearsal! Brandy and Monica are next to face-off on Verzuz! Who is your money on?

Calling all 1990s R&B sweethearts, this isn’t a drill! On Saturday (Aug. 22), unbelievably energizing news broke that music legends Monica and Brandy will authoritatively be clashing in their own one of a kind Verzuz fight on Monday (Aug. 31) at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Prepare you all outfits!

As all evident Rhythm and Blues fans – particularly the individuals who love that class of music from the 90s – know, Monica and Brandy have had a serious history – without a doubt. From breaking records with their 1998 single, “The Boy Is Mine” to bits of gossip about them beefing with each other sometime later to them uniting 14 years after the fact for another single “Everything Belongs To Me,” the two stars’ names being raised in a similar sentence has consistently been newsworthy. Thus, it’s dreamlike to such an extent that them two will be meeting up to fight it out on this up and coming Instagram Live confrontation with their greatest hits.

Back in May, Monica talked about needing to participate in a Verzuz with the star, whom a large number of fans accepted to be her archnemesis for more than two decades. “I understand the idea of [Verzuz] and I think it’s really, really entertaining, and it is an incredible idea,” she said in an interview with V103. “Now what I do like is it’s kind of turning into a celebration. I can handle a celebration. One thing that has happened to me my whole career is being put against someone else that I’m not even remotely similar to. I think the reality is, us being polar opposites makes it dope.”

Monica added: “The only battle or Verzuz they want to see with me is me against Brandy, and the reality is, people have put us against each other for twenty-something years,” she said. “That would be the only thing that makes sense to me because I’ve been trying to tell people for about 25 years, you can like both! You’re going to turn this into 1998 all over again and I have no interest in that.”
