Brut was in the middle of this protest, surrounded by hundreds of people whose mothers, sisters, or daughters had been murdered. It was International Women’s Day in Mexico City. Femicide means the murder of a woman because she’s a woman. In Mexico, more than 3,800 women were murdered in 2019. Brut’s lead foreign correspondent, Charles Villa, went to Mexico to see how women are raising their voices against this deadly sexism.
