Rock The Bells is sharing the first edition of a new series called Classic Record Reflection. This all-new-3-part interview series debuts with legendary rapper, Scarface as he reflects on the 20th anniversary of ‘The Fix,’ which dropped August 6, 2002 and the process behind bringing the massively acclaimed album together and teaming up with Jay-Z,  Nas, Beanie Sigel and Faith Evans, Kanye West, The Neptunes, Nottz and T-Mix to bring the album to life.
Lyrical Deep Dive: Behind the Rhymes
Scarface writes alone, in the studio, without substance or distraction while listening to beat on repeat. He lets the production help dictate the direction of the narrative. His lyrics paint vivid pictures of his experiences past and present. This episode highlights featured lyrics from The Fix – “performed” LIVE by Scarface, followed by a brief description of the story behind the lyrics.
The Industry: More Than Music
The Fix is considered front-to-back one of the best Hip-Hop records of all time. This episode explores Scarface’s creative – and logistical -process of making the records for The Fix. We discuss his production, features, tracklist and studio sessions. The Fix includes production from two of the greatest Hip-Hop producers of all time in Kanye & The Neptunes and features from two of Hip-Hop’s greatest MCs in Jay-Z and Nas.
In The Booth: Studio Sessions
There is more to an album than the music. There is a budget, team, art and business behind the making and monetizing of a record. We discuss the budget, album cover, bootlegging (which was at an all time high) and impact. In addition to being the artist, Scarface was also the president of Def Jam South. He was highly involved in the creative vision for the album and helped direct the marketing and release plan.
Don’t miss Scarface performing “The FIx” in its entirety at the Rock The Bells Festival, Saturday, August 6 at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY.  For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.rockthebellsfestival.com.
