Antonio “Tone D.” Crawford’s love for hip-hop began in the late 90s. He started making beats and soon enough was living out the lyrics of the rap songs he listened to. But after a slew of arrests, Tone D. realized that the lyrics were all for show. He was released and vowed never to go back. That’s when he started taking his life seriously.
After seeing enough death, Tone D. came to appreciate the value of life. His independent record label, Doomsday Music, records songs that make people want to party and have a good time instead of promoting violence and drug use. Today, they’re at half a million streams and counting.
Dedication and talent allowed Tone D. to take the initial steps necessary towards making his dream of owning his own record label a reality. Knowing the difficulties that come with the industry he was ready and determined to make Doomsday Music successful. With a passion for music and by surrounding himself with the right people, he was able to assemble a strong crew of talented creatives who would help carry out his vision for Doomsday Music. The label has continued its success due largely in part to Tone D.’s passion combined with an amazing team of artists.
Tone D. knows that success isn’t achieved overnight. He has worked hard and kept the focus on making high-quality music with the help of those within his community. Staying humble and connected with his own city has been a major factor in keeping Doomsday Music ahead of the competition. Tone D. emphasizes the importance of grinding and staying focused when developing projects that require dedication, rather than hopping from event to event seeking fame or partying all night long.
