Everyone has a redemption story but this one may just be the most unique of all. Bronx, NYC and Grammy-nominated artist Capella Grey delivered an unforgettable performance to a sold out crowd at the Music Hall of Williamsburg this past Saturday. Not only was it wall to wall, but his fans flew from Atlanta, Texas and some from Los Angeles, to support him on his first ever headlining show. The Terribly Responsible Vibe show is EXACTLY what it was.
He has been very transparent about his journey to becoming THEE artist, and one of the stories include him driving taxi out of his 2016 Honda Civic Coupe in the Bronx, NY. Driving people to their destination is a testament to his artistry. His music takes listeners to another place. Whether he has a hip-hop feature like “FLY SHIT” featuring Jaewon and Young M.A, or an R&B feature like “WAT U WANT” featuring Jaquees. Every song on his debut album provides listeners with a different feeling.
Father Zee (MC) started the show with high energy and great opening acts. Some of these performers included; AO, Dizzy Bank, Diany Dior, Champain, Ghost, Billy B, Fergie Baby, Young Devyn, Lou Got Cash, and Branford. The crowd went haywire when Father Zee posed the question “Are y’all ready for Capella Grey?” When we talk about shaking a room, just know Capella has that on lock!
From the moment Capella Grey took the stage, the energy in the venue was palpable. He performed every song from his debut album, he got on the piano and even had someone playing the guitar. We knew Capella Grey was a musical genius, but we weren’t sure what to expect for the show. He brought out all of the stops and something tells me he has a few more up his sleeve.
“Pleasure is all mine, and I ain’t hard to find, i’m in the city of the vibe” you heard creeping up to the front of the stage and in between every word all you heard was screaming. From that song on the crowd recited EVERY WORD to EVERY SONG! “FLY SHIT” seemed to be the FAN FAVORITE, they knew every word and every ad lib.
Two highlights from the evening was when Capella Grey brought out his daughter whom we know as “Bloop The Great” to help sing his hit single “Gyalis” and also when his entire team and loved ones swarmed the stage with a birthday cake since his birthday was the day before and paintings.
The sold out concert marks another milestone in Capella Grey’s impressive career. There’s no doubt that he will remain a significant force in the music industry. He made NYC proud!
