Bobby Shmurda & 13 other members of his GS9 street team have been behind bars since December of 2014 on a 69-count indictment. The arrests were made when police invaded their session at Quad Studios in NYC & uncovered countless guns & drug paraphernalia, leading him to assume charges based on conspiracy, weapon possession, reckless endangerment, & criminal use of drug paraphernalia. With the charges Shmurda & his crew are up against, They’re already looking at over 25 years in prison.
They all were previously granted & not shortly after revoked of their set $2 Million dollar bail, causing them to have to wait out their time on Rikers Island until a trial date was set. This morning, the Brooklynites all attended their hearing for the date of the RICO Indictment trial, which will be June 25th. All involved in the case are looking to plead not guilty for all charges.
It is said that Bobby Shmurda was not responsive nor receptive to all the media coverage & attention that was at the hearing, contrary to Rowdy Rebel who cracked smiles & shared a few words to those around. Lawyer Montgomery offered a few words about the trial:
This is a show and [the prosecutors] have to justify the show. At the trial we’ll see what this is really about. What I would want is some reasonableness to take place and that this young man can be given a reasonable bail and get out. But I know what we’re up against. We’re not up against reason. We’re up against the rule of law.
Shmurda’s lawyer team is hoping for justice to be properly served. Stay tuned for more details as they surface.
