Tonight, week 11 of the 2016 NFL season kicks off with a battle of the NFC South as the (3-6) Carolina Panthers host the (4-5) New Orleans Saints. Both teams still have a slight chance to play their way to the 2017 NFL postseason but in order to keep that dream alive, a win is a must tonight.
Reigning NFL MVP Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers hasn’t looked like the same team that represented the NFC in Super Bowl 50 last season but they have began to play better recently. The Carolina Panthers appeared to be once again looking to hit a multiple game wining streak but the Chefs defensive heroics stopped that late in the fourth quarter in Week 10. Cam Newton has tossed 10 touchdown passes and ran for 4 so far this season. He will need a huge night to help the Panthers come away with victory tonight on Thursday night football.
The New Orleans Saints are coming off of a heart breaking lost in Week 10 to the Denver Broncos and they have stated all week long that they are happy they have a quick down around to get back on the field. The Saints offense has been rolling all season but they haven’t been able to turn touchdowns into wins. Brees has nearly tossed for over 3000 yards and 24 touchdowns so far this season and tonight I don’t see the Panthers defensive slowing him down.
Tonight I expect this to be a high scoring matchup. Look for the Saints offense to come out aggressively on offense and force the Panthers and Cam Newton to pass the ball as well. Saints quarterback Drew Brees will pass for over 300 yards and for 3 touchdown passes. Look for Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to rush for over 80 yards tonight and pass for over 300 yards as well. I’m going with the home team in this Thursday Night Football matchup.
Saints 28 Panthers 31
