On Memorial Day, George Floyd, 46, was murdered by police while in police custody. The video footage went viral over the last week, where he can be seen and heard begging to breathe, and not to be killed, as 4 police officers pinned him down, one specifically with a knee to his neck, causing so much trauma enough to kill him.
Over the course of the last few years, we have seen several documented cases of American police abusing their power to murder African-Americans. This is not a new crime and has been happening forever– the difference is now any human can document literally anything, just like 17-year-old Darnella Frazier visually documented George Floyd being blatantly murdered by police.
Since the release, the WORLD has been flipped upside down. From the beginning of a recession, to the middle of a pandemic, and now hopefully an end to police brutality from citizens demanding change, riots are ensuing around the entire globe, full of pain, anger, violence, looting and stealing– all in the name of George Floyd and other victims of police brutality and racism in general.
With no division between the manners of demanding change and justice in America, peaceful protests have been just as encouraged as showing rage. Los Angeles, CA has been packed with protestors, like the stream of hundreds of people walking down Hollywood Blvd. yesterday, June 3, screaming “No Justice, No Peace!”
Helicopters circled the touristic area that was surprisingly full of native people, marching for a cause while screaming out the names of victims whose lives were lost due to police brutality. To witness a clip of Hollywood’s massive protest, watch below:
